Brief

Our client needed a modern banking solution for digital-native users who value security, simplicity, and personalisation. The app should balance trust and innovation, making complex financial actions feel effortless.

Benchmark

We analyzed leading digital banking and fintech apps to identify design patterns, features, and visual styles that resonate with users.

Competitors such as AYA, Mondo, and LUNAR were studied to understand how simplicity, trust, and innovation are communicated visually. This benchmark informed Rize’s approach by highlighting what works well in the industry and where we could differentiate the brand.

Branding

The logo represents balance and flow, a reflection of financial clarity and motion. The Z represents Gen Z, and the line/ dots on the vertical line in the Z, simulate the vertical dollar line – $.

User personas

We identified two main user types through interviews.
Each represents a segment of our target audience, both defined by their digital habits and financial goals.

User journey

The user journeys capture what traditional bank apps miss, and users struggle. These areas are our focus, as we craft features that counteract them and create great experiences.

UX research insights

Understanding users needs to shape Rize. From interviews with the target group, Gen Z, we gathered these insights helping us to shape the right features and architecture.

Concept development

We went with three concepts. One based on traditional bank apps, one with a young and energetic approach, and the last in the direction we think it should be.

UI kit

The UI kit defines Rize’s visual language through a cohesive set of reusable components, color systems, and typography styles.

It ensures consistency, flexibility, and efficiency in future design and development, serving as the foundation for a seamless brand experience.

User flow

The user flow defines how users move through the Rize app to complete key actions such as sending money, checking balances, learning, or checking up on security.
The focus was creating a simple, logical journey that minimises friction and supports quick decision-making.
Each step provides clear feedback and intuitive options, ensuring users always feel in control of their finances.

Transfer money

Sending and transfering money was a pain point people experienced with traditional banking apps, confusion and too many steps.

We made it super simple, by using phone numbers or emails, money can be transfered in a few simple steps.

Overview

People experienced issues viewing the balance of their income and expenses. With the charts, they get an intuitive feeling of the balance.

We made each entity more informative with multiple breakdowns, including live card mapping.

Security

We made the user in charge and feeling safe and in control if a card gets stolen or gets lost temporary or for good.

In this section, we also added a little short cut, informing about card safty in general.
